Inclement Weather Policy for AWANA

The safety of the children in our program is of utmost concern for us. Therefore, we have instituted the following inclement weather policy.

AWANA is automatically cancelled when:

1. Wilton schools close early due to weather conditions; or

2. Wilton cancels school for the entire day for any reason.

We will use the following notification policy in communication any cancellation, automatic or otherwise, of AWANA:

Whenever possible, we will attempt to activate our telephone tree. In this instance, you should receive a phone call from your child’s group leader to advise that AWANA has been cancelled. This may mean that some of you may receive more than one call, but we feel it’s better to ensure that notifications are made to keep the children safe.

In addition, we will post the cancellation on WMUR Channel 9’s web site. The notification WILL NOT appear on the television, but on the web site only. Browse to www.wmur.com to view the active list.

Finally, since the safety of your and your children are so very important, please do not feel obligated to attend AWANA if you do not feel comfortable traveling. It would be better for your child to miss a week with us than to have something tragic occur.

If you have any questions about the AWANA program’s inclement weather policy, please feel free to talk to any of the leaders you see on Wednesday night or see the program coordinators.
