AWANA
AWANA is a program for children from age
3 to grade 6. The program is designed for children to learn
about the gift of Jesus Christ in a fun way. AWANA is separated into
three groups (broken out below) based upon age. Each group has a work
book and associated activities allowing them to learn the Word of God
and the gift of grace that he has provided to all who believe.
AWANA meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00.
Parents must bring their child into the building and must
come into the building to pick up their child. Children will not be
permitted to leave the building unattended. The children will remain
inside the building at all times, unless there is a special activity
which the parents are previously notified of.
We collect 50 cents in dues per child per week. This
dues is used to help defer the cost of awards. Each child is also
required to obtain a handbook for his or her group. After an initial
introduction period to the program, each child will have a uniform to
wear. They are expected to wear their uniform each week for meeting
and can earn awards and badges to display on those uniforms. There is
a cost for the handbook and the uniform. However, if you are unable
to pay for any item, please contact a member of AWANA’s
leadership team and we can work with you to enable your child to
participate. Our goal is to give your children the opportunity to
learn about God.
Each AWANA meeting is separated into three parts:
council time, game time and handbook time. During council time, the
children will receive a lesson based in the Word of God. During game
time, the children will compete in various games and have the
opportunity to socialize with one another. During handbook time, the
children will have the opportunity to share the verses they have
learned during the week as they work towards the awards they can
display on their uniforms. Parents are urged to work with their
children to help them prepare for handbook time each week.
In the event of inclement weather, please refer to the
WMUR Channel 9 web site at www.wmur.com
for cancellation information. If possible, we will attempt to
contact each family, but that is not always possible. In addition,
please remember that if school is cancelled in Wilton, then AWANA
will also be cancelled.
If you have any questions about the AWANA program,
please feel free to talk to any of the leaders you see on Wednesday
night or see the program coordinators. If you have not yet come out
to a meeting, but would like to contact the church for more
information, please call 654-6396 and leave a message. We will get
back to you.
